Welcome to St. John's Athletics!
St. John’s is home to one of the top independent school athletic programs in Tampa. This is a result of the dedicated athletes and coaches whose effort and competitive spirit have helped the Eagles win championships in a wide variety of sports. Students have a choice of nine sports to participate in during the course of the school year. With a “no-cut policy” for the majority of sports, students are able to compete on competitive Varsity teams or develop fundamentals and passion for competition on Mid-Varsity and Junior Varsity squads. St. John’s goal is to encourage students to broaden their horizons and try something new that will keep them physically active and create collaborative team skills, thus developing student-athletes. Consistently, over 85% of St. John’s student population participates in at least one or more sport, which shows what a wide range of options are offered.
St. John’s Middle School is one of the top schools in the Florida West Coast League, winning a plethora of championships that are proudly immortalized on banners in Marx Gymnasium. One of the most important reasons our teams are so successful is the dedication and hard work of our coaching staff. Each one of our coaches has background knowledge, or playing experience, in the sport they coach, which enhances their abilities to teach all athletes appropriately. There is no doubt, St. John’s provides excellence in academics and sports as one of the best athletic programs in the Tampa Bay area.
