St. John's Dads' Club
The St. John’s Dads’ Club is a service focused group made up of St. John’s fathers. The Dads’ Club sponsors the School’s golf tournament, collects needed items for the disadvantaged at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and organizes a School wide Service Day annually. Dads are asked to pay a nominal dues fee to help support their activities and are asked to help out whenever possible.
Hosted in October each year, the Dads’ Club Golf Tournament is the main fundraising event held by the Dads’ Club. During the 2017-2018 school year, the tournament brought in nearly $5,000, allowing the Dads’ Club to host community service related projects throughout the year. The 2018-2019 Golf Tournament will take place on Friday, October 12, 2018.
Each year, the dads and kids get together for a Day of Service in our community. It’s a day to reinforce the value of service to others and grow together. The 2019 Day of Service is on Friday, February 1.
Past projects have included
- Planting seagrass to maintain beach dunes
- Assembling pencil boxes for needy children
- Creating care packages for our soldiers
Hospitalized and underprivileged children receive toys, books, bikes, and the understanding that they’re not alone through our yearly Christmas Toy Drive. The Thanksgiving Food Drive collects food, not just for the holiday season, but to help maintain food stores at Metropolitan Ministries throughout the year.
