St. John's Dads' Club
The St. John’s Dads’ Club is a service focused group made up of St. John’s fathers. The Dads’ Club sponsors the School’s golf tournament, collects needed items for the disadvantaged at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and organizes a School wide Service Day annually. Dads are asked to pay a nominal dues fee to help support their activities and are asked to help out whenever possible.
Hosted in October each year, the Dads’ Club Annual Golf Tournament is the main fundraising event held by the Dads’ Club. In 2017-2018 the Golf Tournament brought in nearly $5,000, allowing the Dads’ Club to put on their community service related projects throughout the year.
Each year we create a day where the dads and the kids get together to perform service for the community. It’s a day to show our children and ourselves the value of service to others and grow together.
Past projects have included
- Planting sea grass to maintain beach dunes
- Assembling pencil boxes for needy children
- Creating care packages for our soldiers
Hospitalized and needy children receive toys, books, bikes and the understanding that they’re not alone through our yearly Christmas Toy Drive. The Thanksgiving Food Drive collects food not just for the holiday season but to help maintain food stores at Metropolitan Ministries throughout the year.
